Forestville is a North Carolina suburb. It is located in Wake County. It lies to the east of Falls Dam on the Neuse River. It is an unincorporated community within the town of Wake Forest.
In the early 1700s, Forestville was called Forest District. This precinct must have developed as it was the North-South path used by Indians and settlers. It was between Smith Creek and Richland Creek. Here a Forest Road ran all the way to Falls.
By the 1820s, the Masonic Lodge no. 97 was established in Forestville. So also was the Macedonia Academy. Several stores like the Alston’s came up. From the tax rolls of 1837, we find that Forestville was cut up into large tracts of land and being sold off. William Alston and David Crenshaw sold 5 acres to the state to build the first railroad-Raleigh & Gaston.
In 1879, Forestville was incorporated. It remained a town until 1915. In 1988, after 6 legal battles, the Forestville area was annexed to Wake Forest town.
